Black authors

There is a long history of authors who wrote great works of art but who were never able to be published. Why, if they wrote amazing works of art, were they denied publishing? It was because these authors were not considered to be desirable. These authors had a different color of skin and because of that, were considered to be inferior. These are black authors, and for many years it was impossible for these amazing authors to have their works published. One of the most influential authors in all of African American literature is actually a woman, which makes it doubly interesting. Harriet E. Wilson was born in 1825 and actually had one of her novels published in 1859. It helps that Harriet had an amazing story to tell. Soon after she was born, her father died. For some reason or other, her mother left her at a rich family's house and left. The family took her in as an indentured servant, which meant that she had to work in order to live at the family's house. Her work paid for her room and board. This is the story that she wrote down and named Our Nig. That, as a black author and a woman, she managed to get her work published at that time is absolutely amazing. Thankfully now black authors have the ability to be able to publish their work much easier, as there is not the same amount of prejudice today that used to exist. And now it's possible for any author to make use of ebooks, allowing them to create and sell their work extremely quickly.
